I'm 33 years old and qualified as a solicitor in December 2004, after too many years of studying in London! I have been working within the legal profession since 1997 and began my career at a prestigious firm in Islington, London. My training continued at a medium sized, predominantly private client practice in Brighton. I subsequently moved to a larger, more commercial practice, in Uckfield. I was quickly promoted to head up the firm’s Residential Property Team across its 3 branches.

I started Sarah Edmunds Legal on 1 December 2008 with the intention of running a small, friendly approachable and affordable solicitor's practice that provides a different type of service. Lawyers don't usually speak to each other using legal jargon - why inflict this upon our poor clients?! Why stick to usual office hours when most of our clients work or run their own business or have young children?! Why insist on our clients visiting us when we can visit them?!

I have always believed that if you instruct someone professional, you EXPECT a certain level of qualifications and skills in that field. You expect us to know enough about the law to give you the correct advice.We spend much of our time improving our levels of service, whilst (of course) keeping our own legal knowledge and skills up to date by continuous training.

Sarah Edmunds Legal began on beanbag and bookcase at my home! It has grown and grown ever since! We are now in beautiful and historic offices in the heart of Lewes and have a branch office in Uckfield and I have a small but brilliant team, all of whom I am very proud.

You are welcome to drop in at any time to meet us and see our lovely offices. We soon have a local photographer exhibiting his breathtaking local landscape photography in our gallery style offices. If you are treating yourself to a new home, why not pick up a reasonably priced new picture for it?!

In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, dance exercise classes and shopping! I also like to snowboard (if I ever go on holiday!).

I live in a village near Lewes, have a wonderful and supportive husband, 2 cats and a stupid puppy (see below)!

Daphne Grant

I am 32 years old and have, in excess of, twelve years management experience.  Other than an almost two year stint working in a GP practice, my working life, until now, has been in the transport industry.  During this time I gained a great deal of experience of working in a fast paced, customer facing environment and also got myself a PCV license so I could drive the buses/coaches when necessary.  

I am the Practice Manager at Sarah Edmunds Legal and am responsible for reception, office organising and managing the implementation of the firm’s strategies and business plan. I am involved in HR and am the first point of contact for all Health and Safety matters.

I live in Amberstone but was brought up in the lovely countryside of Herstmonceux.  In my spare time I enjoy walking my dogs, horse riding, dance exercise classes and, of course, shopping!!

              I joined Sarah Edmunds Legal in September 2011 as a private client solicitor. I came into the legal profession nearly 10 years ago after a varied career in the arts and public sector. I deal with all aspects of private client work including drafting of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorneys  and applications to the court of Protection as well as dealing with all aspects of estate administration.

Huxley
Head of Security and Loyalty Scheme

Huxley can often be found in the office (on a calm day) – he is head of security (and I thought it would be useful to use this intimidating photograph) and head of implementation of a staff and client loyalty scheme….which is progressing extremely slowly despite the apparent enthusiasm.
