Wills
Our clients often find it difficult to plan for the future and most people put off making a Will for a number of different reasons. If you fail to make a Will though, your family will have difficulties benefiting from your estate. Sarah Edmunds Legal can help you make a legally valid Will, whether it is a simple Will, a more complicated one or a couple's Will. This will provide the peace of mind that you have made all the necessary provisions for the future.
If you fail to make a Will, your family could face a long and expensive legal battle trying to deal with your affairs, even if you just have a bank account and a car. If you have your own business or children this could cause further complications.
Inevitably, the following issues crop up when someone passes away without a Will:
- Family and close friends may not benefit from your estate at all - this can include personal items.
- Family and close friends may have to take out a loan to cover a substantial inheritance tax and legal bill.
- The legal fees payable from your estate are likely to be far higher than if a Will was in place.
- A stranger could deal with your estate.
- Family and close friends are likely to face further upset and delays in dealing with your property and affairs.
Charges for Wills
We charge £150.00 plus VAT for a simple Will and only £250.00 plus VAT for a couple’s Wills.
We are happy to discuss and agree a fixed fee for more complicated Wills. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this.
Existing clients are entitled to a 10% discount on our fees.
We are willing to accept payment by instalments.
How Long Will It Take?
We will usually meet with you for an hour or so to discuss your wishes. It usually takes 2 weeks from that meeting to prepare your Will, arrange for you to sign it and make arrangements for storage.
